No worries! Christmas is a hectic time, and you update frequently enough that we can't complain either way (and hey, it's a Sims story on the internet for free; if you updated twice a year, that's still more often that any of us can demand of you). If there's an update on Tuesday, great. If not, I don't think anyone would begrudge you for having a life.

Meanwhile, I'll just look forward to Saturday's. I'll be out New Year's Eve (for once) and probably the morning/early afternoon of New Year's Day as well, but it's nice to think that there will be a shiny new BoS update waiting for me whenever I get back. :)

Just a note: Because of the Keep's upcoming SS deadline and Christmas being next week, I do not know if I will be updating on Tuesday. I won't be updating tomorrow night. Got too much to do.

Although with luck, you might see a few new shinies around here even if there aren't any new posts.

Will definitely be back next Saturday and as my New Years Eve plans involve drinking cocoa out of a penguin mug and gazing lovingly at my computer monitor... I'm sure I'll be updating New Years Eve.

Thanks for reading, guys!

Yes, Reggie is a light wizard. And I would say that the personalities of the people in charge have a little to do with how a light wizard became a crime lord... He may be against the written letter of the law, but he is capable of following the spirit of it. And more importantly, his position allows him to be help where he needs to help out.

Sure there are a lot more spells that might be helpful if you did dark magic and were a crime lord, but I don't know how much Reggie would use those. (Marcinak would. But thankfully he's as muggle as houseshoes.)

True, there isn't any reason to make it easy for someone to walk off with Ruben. (And Colby being a guardsman and one who is pretty dedicated to the letter of the law, has more than a few enemies. Plus the enemies he has because he's Reggie's brother. His kids would make good ransom or blackmail if someone got ahold of them...)

We'll find out what the black magic clinging to the kids was in a few posts. And whether it's actively against them or just residual. *mentally goes over next few posts* Probably sometime in Hybel. Maybe Lenona. Depends on what happens with the arc that starts the post after next.

I hope Reggie does too! I don't really like hurting kids, even just story ones... Thanks, Morgaine!

So far as I know, magic comes from fae blood. I'm trying not to mess with Morgaine's canon. But she needed to sleep the night I wrote this. (Dratted sleep always getting in the way.) Reggie has fae blood. (Not just through his ancestor--he is after all descended from Jessie if you go back far enough--but more recently than that. Which'll be covered soon-ish.) His siblings are sensitive to it (Like Tommy and Kay are sensitive to magic.) but only Reggie got enough of it to actually be a wizard.

Goldie and Romeo are actually Colby's kids. It's just the middle two boys who are not. (And Goldie is the only girl, I typo'd making nieces plural I have the worst time with the word niece.) Goldie is very sensitive to magic--which is probably an indication that she might grow up to be a witch. Romeo is about as sensitive as a rock even when talking about magic and he won't.

As for if a love potion during your creation might make you more susceptible to magic, I don't know. I have an answer I like, but I haven't managed to cross check that answer with Morgaine, so I can't answer that right now because in a canon form, I don't know the answer.

Thanks, Van!

I find it interesting that a crime lord appears to be a light wizard. Don't get me wrong, I can see that Reggie is a good man despite his profession, but I would think that dark magic would be more useful to crime-lording ...

Of course, given that Jayson is the main civil authority and Miguel is in charge of the police force, why should it be surprising that the local crime lord is a light wizard? If the law enforcement is going to be somewhere between "evil" and "completely incompetent" (Colby excepted), why shouldn't the law breakers be the good guys?

Still, I don't blame Reggie for being worried about those kids. Not only is there the fact that Romi could have lost Ruben -- stranger abduction is ridiculously rare in the real world, but still, there's no reason to make it easy -- that dark magic doesn't sound good. I don't blame Goldie for freaking out. I just hope it was residual magic from Madame Bones's shop, and not that Romi is allowing somebody to use dark magic on her kids.

Whatever is going on, I hope hat Reggie gets to the bottom of it quick, before one of those kids gets hurt.

So Reggie is a wizard! Iiiiiinteresting... :)

Magic generally tends to run in families according to Albion lore, doesn't it? From long-ago Fae blood? At least, we haven't heard of anyone acquiring magic just because they decided to do so, or accidentally stumbled across it--but I suppose that doesn't mean it can't happen. Still, if it's in his blood, I wonder if Colby or Eve--or any of the nieces and nephews who might actually be Colby's--have any traces of it.

Also, very interesting about the little kids (who are adorable, and I hope they'll take after Colby more than they will Romi, even if he's not their biological father). If their magic isn't tied to their blood, I wonder if it has anything to do with their mother's... er, purchases? I mean, if a child was conceived while one parent was under the effects of a love potion, could that increase susceptibility to dark magic?

*makes a mental note to pay closer attention to Agravaine*
