Colby tries to be fair. And he's not blind to the fact that his son can be a jerk. All you have to know to see that is look at how he acts with his dad after he's caught. Romeo's mother, Romi, is actually a lot like your late and unlamented Ailede with a shake or three of Babette herself tossed in. Thankfully Colby is less henpecked than Falidor was when he was married to Ailede.

As long, though, as the biggest influence in Romeo's life is his mother (Which it is, as unfortunately Colby has to work and clean up all the messes that Miguel's incompetence leaves there.) Romeo's not so likely to change. But hey, there's always a hope for a random anvil being dropped on Romi's head.

Anna-Marie is a little spitfire with a very distinct sense of right and wrong. And her parents have certainly never told her that she shouldn't, if she sees something wrong, say something.

I dunno if one of the local thugs would go after a kid like Elias. Certainly none of Reggie's guys would. And I can't see him being of much interest to someone like Leekbee, but yeah, better not to take the chance.

Thanks, Van!

As I said the other day in chat, Romeo, unfortunately, is basically a Babette personality being raised by Van's Ailede. There's only so much good influence Colby can put in his kids and Romeo is the one least receptive to it.

Yeah, there are lots of things that can go wrong out there on the streets of River Sulis, just ask Darin and Sara-Beth and Raven, they'd give you a laundry list.

But don't worry, there's at least one parent following Anna-Marie, with Raven knowing all the things that could go wrong, she's not letting her daughter race off into the twilight without someone with her. It's easier to follow than to go pick her up at the guard's station when she gets caught, too.

Thanks, Morgaine!

Eh, I was bullied pretty severely as a child, and I didn't find anything triggery here. If anything, it was great to see a bully actually get punished for once.

Romeo's a little brat. I suppose it's not impossible that he'll grow up, but Anna-Marie seems like a good judge of character, so maybe not. At least his dad is a decent guy who is willing to set him straight. But like Morgaine, now I'm wondering what Romeo's mother is like. We already know Raven and Sara-Beth don't like Romeo's mother...

Anna-Marie is about as awesome as a kid that age can ever be. Girl's got guts! But aww, Elias. :( I hope Anna-Marie's hunch is right, and she (and hopefully at least one trailing parent) finds Elias before one of the local thugs or Miguel can.

I don't think you needed a trigger warning for the bullying or the punch in the nose, either.

And as scared and worried as I am for Elias ... I have got to hand it to Anna-Marie! That took guts, standing up for her friend and going right to the source to get somebody to control that brat Romeo. But since Romeo's dad seems incredibly reasonable, I want to know just where Romeo is getting the idea that it's ok to bully people. His mother? How bad can this mother be? Or is he just one of those people that's ... well ... born rotten, as mean as that sounds?

Or is he just being an awkward kid with some other issues, working them out in the worst possible way?

But I'm more worried about Elias. :( Poor kid! I hope he's ok, wherever he is!

And I really hope that Raven or Eric is following Anna-Marie! The last thing anybody needs is two lost kids!

This ended up being a bit longer than I intended so it got split into two chunks. Which ended up probably being better because wordpress wouldn't let me upload pictures and it took forever just to get these ones up. And I have a bunch of pretty pictures in the second half of the update... Which we will find out where Elias is in the next update. :-)

I didn't think I needed to put a trigger warning on bullying and the bloody nose because they're relatively small things. If anyone feels I should, I can later.
